Who is the service for ?                                                                                                                             Any child between 0 – 16 years of age who is presenting with functional or communication difficulties.

The conditions considered in the site information are NOT limited to these conditions and are only indicative descriptions.

How can a child be referred to the services offered by Therapy in Praxis Limited ?                                     Contact with Therapy in Praxis Limited to consider the most appropriate route for an assessment. Often funding comes from private healthcare schemes, commissioning funding but primarily from independent sources, [self – funding].

Waiting Lists
Therapy in Praxis Limited DOES NOT operate a waiting list although it may be necessary to stagger or advance schedule an appointment involving comprehensive interventions from the multidisciplinary team.

What happens next ?                                                                                                                                  You will be sent a set of questionnaires, [in addition to those available on-line].

Parents be asked to complete a developmental / sensory evaluation questionnaire

Education will be asked to complete a checklist of motor behaviour, sensory observations and progress recording from ‘ P’ targets in order to consider underlying cognitive issues.

A formal employment agreement detailing appointment date, time and location will be sent for acceptance signature which validates the contract.

You are under no obligation to proceed until this document is signed and dated. Once signed it is considered as legally binding on both parties.

Therapy in Praxis is acutely aware that there are often situations that arise beyond control or responsibility of either parties. We consider ourselves to be sensitive to the needs of the child and the family and we will do our very best to accommodate special requirements and circumstances.

The Therapy in Praxis Limited assessment process includes comprehensive assessment & specific programme planning for effective treatment intervention.

Therapy in Praxis Limited will use different evaluation procedures including standardised assessments in order to identify a child’s underlying difficulties.

Appointment Scheduling ?                                                                                                                 Assessment appointment timings are dependent on the complexity of the assessment and on the individual tolerances of the child.

Typically an appointment would take approximately 2 hours with feedback and discussion time, as appropriate.

Important Information for Assessment ?                                                                                                     Please advise Therapy in Praxis Limited of any contraindications to assessment and any underlying medical needs such as epilepsy, diabetes, etc.

Your child needs to wear trainers or plimsolls, loose fitting trousers , [track suit bottoms] and a T-shirt or sweat shirt for the assessment appointment.

Assessment can be extremely demanding but Therapy in Praxis will ensure that the child’s needs and tolerance levels are considered at all times.

Please be advised that failed appointments, [assessment OR therapy session], without prior notification will incur a charge, [50% of assessment fee].

It would be helpful for the evaluation / data analysis that any relevant medical or educational reports are made available.

Therapy Session ?                                                                                                                                    A therapy session is carried out on an individual basis . Parents are invited to observe through the two-way mirror facility or via the video link.

Therapy appointments are strictly 60 minutes to include feedback / discussion. Please arrive in plenty of time so that you and your child can relax and prepare for the appointment.
